Cottage Rake 01_web

5/6F
COTTAGE RAKE (11 yo)
Owner Frank Vickerman was persuaded by Trainer, Vincent O’Brien to buy COTTAGE RAKE. Vickerman changed his mind after the horse failed a vetting, but, as luck would have it, a part payment made had already been cashed by the breeder and so the deal went through. COTTAGE RAKE was the flagship horse and foundation of the trainer’s empire. In the decade that he trained jumpers, O’Brien won a remarkable 23 races at The Festival, including four Gold Cups securing a place in Cheltenham history for both horse and trainer.
